After graduating from the Ohio State University Dental School, Dr. King entered the Marine Corps and served as Dental Officer in Viet Nam. Upon returning from active duty, he entered and completed a two-year full time residency program in Orthodontics at Ohio State University. He then returned to Dayton to practice in his father's Orthodontic Group. He is one of an elite group of dentists who have successfully completed a two-year post-graduate program in Occlusion (how teeth fit and function together) at the "Foundation for Advanced Continuing Education." He is a member of the two most prestigious Study Groups in the country working in this complex area. He has shared his expertise by lecturing to groups all over the United States.
He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. This is the highest post-graduate academic achievement available to a trained orthodontist. He has also served as an advisor to a major manufacturer of orthodontic supplies. This allows him to stay on the cutting edge of clinical research and developments. Dr King is a member of the usual dental and orthodontic groups. In addition he is a founding member of the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics. Dr. King and his wife (Susie) are the parents of three children. For relaxation Dr. King plays golf and enjoys walking. |

Dr. Sam King shares the enthusiasm and commitment to excellence initiated by his grandfather, Dr. Ben King, and is continued by his father, Dr. Jack King. Dr. Sam grew up in Dayton, Ohio, and attended Alter High School where he was active in academics, sports, and extra-curricular activities. He enrolled at The Ohio State University and, because of his excellent undergraduate record, received early admittance to the College of Dentistry. In addition to his regular dental school course load, he worked as an instructor for undergraduates. In dental school, he extensively researched the genetics of cleft lip and palate. In June 2005, Dr. Sam completed his orthodontic residency at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where he has treated patients throughout the three-year program. Besides receiving his Certificate in Orthodontics, Dr. Sam earned a Master of Science in Oral Biology. Along with the standard curriculum, he has completed courses in facial and dental appearance and function. During this time he also graduated from the two year Roth-Williams advanced orthodontic program. Dr. Sam has recently been given an extremely high accolade. He was asked to return to the University of Pennsylvania Orthodontic Graduate Residency Program as an Instructor. He goes to Philadelphia one weekend every 2 months to teach in the program he just concluded. Dr. Sam is excited to join a practice that uses the latest technology and equipment. He joins a team proud of its accomplishment of creating lifetime smiles. |

When Dr. Mayerson returned from service he again matriculated to Ohio State University to complete his dental education. After graduating from the Dental School he went to Northwestern University for his two-year residency in Orthodontics. Upon completion of the program, he returned to Dayton, OH to enter private practice.
Dr. Mayerson served as President of the Dayton Dental Society and the Ohio Association of Orthodontists. He was formerly an Assistant Professor in the Graduate Department of Orthodontics at O.S.U. He has lectured and published in the U.S., Europe and the Far East. After completing eight years as an Associate Editor of the "Journal of Clinical Orthodontics" he is now a Contributing Editor.
As a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics he has achieved the highest academic accolade that can be given to a trained Orthodontist. He has also served as an advisor to a leading orthodontic manufacturer in all phases of their research and development. In addition to the customary dental and orthodontic societies, he is also a member of the International College of Dentists and the Federation Dentaire International. For relaxation he plays golf and enjoys photography. Dr. and Mrs. (Elaine) Mayerson have two children. |
