Dr. Bergh specializes in orthodontic treatment; the alignment of the teeth and jaws with braces and other orthodontic appliances.
Dr. Bergh believes that technology and continuing eduction are valuable in orthodontic treatment. There have been many advances in the field of orthodontics in the past 10 to 15 years, making orthodontic treatment faster, more comfortable and more economical.
Miniature Metal Braces
We use state-of-the-art metal brackets in which the size has been reduced to create less of that "metal mouth" look for which orthodontics has been famous. These brackets are highly efficient and allow for effective therapy.
Cosmetic Braces
Tooth-colored or clear braces are in demand these days by both adults and children. We use braces that almost "disappear" when placed on your teeth. In some situations, a cosmetic brace with a small horizontal metal insert in the bracket will be used to increase the efficiency of treatment.
Concealed (invisible) braces
Placed behind the teeth, these brackets are "invisible" from outside the mouth. Many adults will qualify for these types of braces depending on the type of treatment needed.
Removable aligners
Conventional aligner - these aligners are similar in design to the typical retainer used after orthodontic treatmet. However, special springs are added to the aligners to actively move your teeth. For those patients with the desire to align the upper and lower front teeth, but wanting the convenience of removeing them for special occasions, these aligners offer an excitbing alternative to braces in qualified cases.
"Invisalign" aligners (as seen on TV) - these "clear" aligners offer the latest in compter technology design. CAD/CAM software is used to created a series of "clear" aligners that, over a period of time with regular full-time wear, will align your teeth. These aligners are available to adults and teenagers who have their 12-year molars in position. These aligners are the current state-of-the-art in orthodontic treatment.
Functional appliances
Many young children will benefit from early orthodontic treatment. Functional appliances take advantage of the nataral growth patterns and help to encourage jaw growth, possibly eliminating the need for extracting teeth or for surgical treatment later in life.
